O ne of the main ways the TEAMS Confer- ence helps the sports-event industry is through connections made at the event- organizer marketplace and on the expo floor. The marketplace (photos 1-3) allowed event organizers, destinations and suppliers
to network in a reverse trade show format where they
could set appointments later at the expo. More than
10,000 appointments were made during the TEAMS
’ 17 Expo, held at the Hilton Orlando (photos 4–8).
On the final day of the conference, attendees had
more opportunity to learn and be inspired. A final super
session included an update from the leader of the 2026
United World Cup Bid, an interview with LPGA Commissioner Mike Whan and an inspirational chat with Julia Hawkins, who broke the 100-meter dash world record
at the National Senior Games in the 100-plus division.
TEAMS ’ 17 came to a close with a celebration at
Icebar, where attendees looked ahead to TEAMS ’ 18
in Louisville, October 1-4.
